When Sony announced that they were teaming up with AT&T for the PlayStation Vita's 3G service, it was the only time I can remember at a major press conference when there were actual, audible boos.
And this shit is exactly why.
Turns out that the Vita is locked to AT&T sim cards, with The Verge reporting that "inserting a SIM from T-Mobile or an international carrier will not work".
America, you do a lot of things right, but your mobile phone carriers are the worst.

what can be locked, can be unlocked. don't kid yourself sony.

Ew... Why couldn't they pick a better provider? You know, like Verizon?!

People can just buy one of those 3/4G Wi-Fi modems which uses and converts cellular internet provider to Wifi, and not use AT&T, but I got a feeling you have to sign up for a long Internet ATT contract to buy the Vita 3G at a subsidized/lower price then retail like cell phones.
Might be more worthit just to buy the Wifi version of the Vita, and just buy a Wifi/cellular modem to subscribe to your own service. A lot of smartphones also has internet sharing by Wi-Fi, but it can be expensive if you go over the bandwidth limit.
